Graduation Requirements

General Requirements

 

  • Students need a minimum of 21.5 credits to graduate.
  • All classes satisfactorily completed earn .5 credits per semester.
  • All students must enroll in at least six classes per semester.
  • The principal must approve any deviation from this requirement.
  • Students must complete the MME (or alternate exam as authorized by IEP)

Requirements by Subject

English

4 credits required.  Required classes are

  • English 9
  • English 10
  • English 11
  • One Elective English

Science

3 credits required.  Required classes are

  • Biology
  • Chemistry or Physics
  • One Elective Science

Mathematics

4 credits required.  Required classes are:

  • Algebra I
  • Geometry
  • Algebra II
  • One math course must be take during student's senior year

Social Studies

3 credits required.  Requirements include:

  • World History
  • U.S. History
  • Government
  • Economics

Computer Academics Technology (CAT)

 .5 credit required

Physcial Education and Health

 1 credit required

Visual, Performing and Applied Arts

1 credit required

Foreign Language

2 credits (beginning with class of 2016)

​Other Information

Only 5th year seniors who have met all requirements may graduate in January.

Students may take a cumulative examination in core content areas to earn the high school credit for graduation.  Students must pass the test with a score of 80% or better to earn such credit; no letter grade will be applied to the student's grade point average.  Tests are only offered within the first 2 days of each semester and it is the student's responsibility to inquire and register for said tests.
